Access Pipeline’s proposed Northeast Expansion

Access Pipeline is proposing a new 42-inch diameter pipeline from Conklin, Alberta to Redwater, Alberta. The new pipeline, called the Northeast Expansion, would be built to transport increased production supply from Canada’s oil sands for refining or to be sent to market.

The initial capacity of the proposed pipeline will be 350,000 barrels of blended bitumen per day. Once built and operational, the pipeline would be monitored and controlled 24-hours a day from our existing pipeline control center located at the Sturgeon Terminal.

In as much as possible, the Northeast Expansion will follow existing rights-of-way.

If approved, construction on the pipeline would begin in 2013 and be operational by 2015.
