Operations

Access connects several communities in northern Alberta where the majority of our employees live and work. They too value safety in their community and work year round to ensure a safe and reliable operation of the pipeline

Pipeline field operations are based out of the Sturgeon Terminal, 13 kilometer’s East of Gibbons on Hwy 643. Additional resources are based in the Lac La Biche area to assist with northern operations.

The pipeline system is monitored and controlled from the Sturgeon Terminal Control Centre (SCC) and is a manned 24 hours per day, 7 days per week operation. The pipeline and facilities are monitored and controlled remotely via a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. Local and remote computer systems provide the necessary safe guards to operate the pipeline in accordance with the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board and the Canadian Standards Association.
